Our history
For almost 100 years our Organisation has supported young people resident in some of the most disadvantaged communities throughout Wales. The Organisation's roots are traced back to the coalfields of the South Wales mining valleys.
1990
Due to extreme financial difficulties Boys' Clubs of Wales was forced to cease operating.
1991
The Organisation officially allowed girls into the clubs, although girls had previously been welcomed for some time.
1992
Boys' Clubs of Wales became a charity based organisation (Charity Number: 1009142)
1993
Treharris boys' club 1991
The Organisation changed its title to Welsh Federation of Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs.
1996
The organisation began a scheme to expand clubs into North Wales and opened an office there in 1999.
1998
The organisation changes its name to The Boys' and Girls' Clubs of Wales.
1999
North Wales office opened
